The Australian Privacy Foundation says there are serious privacy issues with a facial recognition camera system set to be trialled in the City of Perth.

A tender process is underway and could be up-and-running by the end of the year.

Privacy Foundation chairman David Vaile says councils and politicians increasingly want to be seen as being ‘tough on crime’.
