An elderly couple is lucky to be alive after a passerby stumbled upon the pair holding on for dear life more than an hour after they were swept up in rising river water at Nanga Brook, near Dwellingup.

Their humble rescuer – forester Mark Lush – joined Mornings with Gareth Parker today to describe how a quick stop to check river water levels, led to the rescue.
