Michelle Guthrie has been axed as ABC Managing Director, after she lost the confidence of the board.

The former Foxtel and Google executive will leave the public broadcaster just halfway through her five-year term.

The Australian newspaper’s media writer, Stephen Brook broke the story, and joined Tim McMillan to explain the backstory to the decision.
