Is it okay to ignore the ‘best before’ label on food?
Tonnes of food goes to waste every year and Scientists urge it’s safe to eat food past the ‘best before’ date. Saying that best-before dates are not about safety but quality. Use by dates, on the other hand, are strict cut-off times for foods that go off quickly, such as meat products, fish, dairy food and bagged salads. If you ignore these, you could end up with a nasty dose of food poisoning.
