WACA CEO confirms interest in Boxing Day Test

While broadcasting from the WACA for the Manchester United training session, Oliver Peterson spoke to WACA CEO Christina Matthews about what the future is looking like for ground. She said they are hoping to see the northern side redeveloped with the Inverarity and Prindiville stands replaced with a new pavillion, community space, public gym and other features.

“We spoke a lot to the Liberal party prior to the the election. The response we got from them was if they win the election we will continue talks.”

“Those talks are commencing and we already have meetings lined up. So there is still great opportunity for us.”

In light of there being no guarantee the Boxing Day test is played at the MCG after next year, Oly put the question to Ms Matthews – could we have it here at Optus Stadium?

“If it becomes available, absolutely why wouldn’t we want to steal it!”
