Barnaby Joyce could potentially return as Nationals leader and Deputy Prime Minister, as early as tomorrow.

The high-profile Nationals MP has confirmed he will move against current leader Michael McCormack.

But at this stage it’s not known if he actually has the numbers to return to his old job.

Speaking briefly at Parliament House, Mr Joyce says change is needed if the Nationals are to survive.
