Content moderation expert Sarah Roberts says Facebook moderators deal with the “worst of the worst” in humanity on a day-to-day basis.

This week Facebook agreed to pay a settlement of $52m in a court case alleging the company failed to protect workers tasked with moderating disturbing content.

Sarah Roberts is an Assistant Professor of Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles and the author of Behind the Screen: Moderation in the Shadows of Social Media.
