There have been around half as many fatalities on WA roads in April due largely to coronavirus restrictions.

People were restricted to their own region of the state under the initial measures – which were eased last week – and will be almost lifted entirely from Friday.

Road Safety Council chair Iain Cameron told Gareth Parker on Mornings there were 15 road deaths in WA last year, but just seven this year, with certain groups also experiencing less road trauma.

Mr Cameron also says our year-to-date road toll is the lowest we’ve experienced in 12 years.
