‘Selfish’ Optus pitch invader fined $8000 and sacked from his job

Jesse Hayen

The 28-year-old man who ran shirtless onto the pitch at Optus Stadium during the Geelong v Collingwood match last week has been fined $8000 and denied a spent conviction.

Jesse Hayen has also lost his concreting job in Mandurah and will tomorrow make his journey back home to Victoria with his tail well and truly between his legs after a dressing down from a magistrate.

After pleading guilty to failing to comply with direction, Hayen’s actions were described as incredibly stupid and completely disregarded the health and welfare of other people.

9 News Perth reporter Renae Henry was in court for the sentencing and told Gareth Parker on Mornings the magistrate determined an $8000 fine was a significant penalty and would serve as a deterrent to both Hayen and the community.
