Anthony Albanese criticises PM’s ‘lacking leadership’
Federal Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has accused the Prime Minister of “going missing” before today’s crisis meeting of National Cabinet.
He said Australia was falling behind other advanced nations of the world when it comes to the booster program, and it was time for leadership on a national level.
“The booster rollout, we again haven’t learnt the lessons of it being a race,” he told 6PR Mornings.
“We are below Iceland, Chile, UK, Israel, Denmark Ireland.”
He said booster shots for people in aged care needed to be a priority.
“We need access to rapid antigen tests, we know that the Victorian government for example has purchased many millions of tests, but we need federal government leadership and we need something more than the Prime Minister saying it’s not my job.
“And we need more consistency when it comes to the rules that are in place.”
