Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt says he supports WA opening up on February 5 despite the surge of Omicron cases afflicting the eastern states.

It comes as 52.4 per cent of the eligible WA population receive their third COVID-19 vaccine thanks to a significant increase of people coming forward in the past few weeks.

At least 94.1 per cent of over-16 population have had at least one first dose.

“Western Australia has been doing the fastest rate of vaccinations for the first and second doses in the country in recent weeks,” Mr Hunt said on 6PR Mornings.

“So that’s just a big tick to all the people in WA.”
