Lyn Foreman OAM, a former champion hurdler and head track coach at the Western Australian Institute of Sport, has been inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame on Friday.

The former athlete received a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to athletics in 2018.

She told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that the industry had come a long way for women in the last couple of years.

“I felt when I retired and started coaching I was taking two steps forward and one step back the whole way,” she said.

“Forging ahead as a female coach in that male-dominated area was pretty tough but no tougher than any other woman out there. The progress is slow, but it’s there, which I think is really, really important.”

The WA Women’s Hall of Fame recognises, promotes and celebrates the achievements of Western Australian women, past and present, in the lead up to International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8.
