St John of God Subiaco Hospital is now asking doctors to book elective surgeries next week because theatres are ‘almost empty’.

In a statement sent to hospital staff, Director of COVID Management (West) and CEO of St John of God Subiaco Hospital Professor Shirley Bowen says elective surgeries will soon be back up and running.

“Monday is the start of our elective surgery restrictions with only Category 1 and Urgent Category 2 cases being able to be booked.”

Elective surgeries were put on hold by the State Government in preparation for the spike of COVID cases after the WA border re-opening.
