Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has confirmed an incident at a house in Nollamara last night, in which a woman in her 20s was found seriously injured, is now being treated as a homicide investigation after she died overnight.

Police and St John Ambulance personnel were called to the residence in Monterey Street about 10.30pm, when they found the woman and conveyed her to Royal Perth Hospital.

A Canine Section unit was deployed at the scene and found a man in his 40s hiding at the front of a neighbouring property.  He has not been charged.

“Despite the efforts of family, attending police and hospital staff, tragically this woman has died in hospital,” Commissioner Dawson told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

“It’s being regarded as a homicide investigation.”
