The infamous Bayswater Bridge has pulled one hell of a prank in response to confirmation on Wednesday it would be demolished at the end of the year.

Planning Minister Rita Saffioti announced the end for the notorious bridge – responsible for dozens of traffic hazards from more than 60 trucks getting stuck in the overpass – due to the upgrade of Bayswater train station.

But truckies shouldn’t crack out the tinnies yet… minutes after Ms Saffioti’s press conference ended, a truck became stuck under the City West underpass on Sutherland Street.

The 3.8m Bayswater Bridge on the corner of busy King William Street and Whatley Crescent has caused sheepish embarrassment for dozens of Perth truck drivers in recent years, with a website even dedicated to its notoriety and hit rate.
