Legendary Australian satirist Greig Pickhaver – better known as HG Nelson – is giving Australians a light-hearted insight on the election campaign trail with partner in crime John Doyle (aka Roy Slaven).

Their podcast Bludging on the Blindside has delved into the emergence of the independent candidates, the first election debate and elite PR stunts, from oil refineries to koala selfies.

“I’ve got to be honest, I’m fairly sort of disinterested in them.. how exactly are they going to do this?” Pickhaver told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.

“In the past an independent, much in the manner of Bob Katter, just represented Bob Katter and a few crocs really.

“Are they going to form a party when they all get to Canberra and sort of go ‘we’ve got to represent as a lobby group in some way’?”
