On Sunday the Labor Party launched its campaign in Perth with Premier Mark McGowan, South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas and former Prime Ministers Paul Keating and Kevin Rudd in attendance.

Missing in attendance was Tanya Plibersek.

Michael Pachi, Nine Radio National Political Editor, told Liam Bartlett he thought it was a bit of an issue.

“It has become a bit of an issue that people like Tanya Plibersek who is in the Shadow Cabinet, she is the Shadow Education Minister, fairly high profile, has basically been kept out of this campaign,” he said.

“You would think that someone like Tanya Plibersek who holds the Education portfolio which is a key area that Labor always bangs on about as being one of their strengths.

“You would think that Anthony Albanese would have all his Shadow Front bench, Shadow Cabinet, with him here in Perth to attend this launch but this wasn’t to be.”

Pachi said Albanese has been facing questions over why Plibersek was not taking a more prominent role.

“People say behind the scenes that Tanya Plibersek and Anthony Albanese don’t get along,” he told Liam Bartlett.
