Routine traffic stop uncovers sly grog worth thousands of dollars
There’s been a massive reaction to a picture showing what appears to be alcohol for the next police office staff party, but in fact is the seizure of thousands of dollars of sly grog bought in the Kimberley region.
Assistant WA police commissioner Col Blanch told Gareth Parker in his weekly segment on 6PR Breakfast the officers from Fitzroy Crossing were happy to make the seizure, given it could cause harm in the community.
“Police on Friday night were conducting traffic patrols just out of the Fitzroy Crossing townsite, and stopped a Toyota Tarago van, get a load of this, out of the car were 22 cartons of Emu Export, 17 one-litre bottles of Bundaberg Rum, eight one-litre bottles of Jim Beam…. it went on and on and on,” Blanch told Parker.
And will the booze now be donated to the police office staff party?
“That rumour is always out there, that cops would use that alcohol, but it does go down the drain, unfortunately, we do destroy it.”
