Police shoot dead family dog after it attacked owners

Police have shot dead a family dog – a three-year-old Blue Heeler – after it attacked it’s three owners in Perth’s south.
Officers were called to a property in Baldivis on Sunday night with reports the dog had bitten a resident on the throat and arm.
When police arrived the dog attacked another two people.
The officers then shot the dog twice to prevent further attacks, and then had to shoot the dog a third time to euthanise it.
Nine News reporter Kelly Haywood said it was a traumatic event for all involved.
“This is something that’s such a horrific story, that it will have really long-lasting effects,” she told 6PR Breakfast.
“Last night he just snapped.
“He’d been castrated just a week before, so he had a cone on his head.
“Basically the owner was sitting on the floor of his office and the dog just lunged for him, went for his throat and wouldn’t stop, so they had to pull him off.
“The details are really horrific, basically he just kept lunging for the owners, he wouldn’t stop until eventually police got there.
The three victims were taken to Rockingham Hospital with serious injuries.
