Sussan Ley, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Shadow minister for Women; Industry, Skills and Training; Small and Family Business spoke to Oliver Peterson on Perth Live ahead of the WA Liberal conference this weekend.

Sussan told Oly that Labor-loving WA will not stop her and Peter Dutton’s three year plan to get back into Government, acknowledging that it wouldn’t be possible without WA on their side.

“Rawly I would say we did not meet WA’s expectations. We have to accept that and we have to move on. ”

“We get up everyday to fight for them. I get up everyday to ask them what they need from their members of parliament, to learn how their lives might’ve changed and to meet their expectations for next time.”

Sussan further highlighted Liberals plans to meet quotes for female politicians in their party.

“We need a 50% target by 2025, that’s my view. I said target and not quota, because I think that we can do this. I think everyone wants to do it and everyone knows it needs to be done.”

“We need to encourage young women to get into the party, mentor them successfully, give them a platform to share their ideas and have a system that strongly supports them.”
