Fool moon? How you can buy your own plot of lunar land
In 1980, Dennis Hope found a loophole in a United Nations charter that has allowed his company to sell plots on the moon for more than 30 years.
Lunar Embassy has now sold a billion acres of extraterrestrial land to more than 6 million customers, including celebrities, actors and former presidents.
The company’s thinking is from old frontier law – many nations have laws allowing people to claim unoccupied land.
Lunar Embassy CEO and Hope’s son, Chris Lamar, told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that space is the ultimate uncharted territory.
“We are that distribution mechanism where all of humanity can obtain their anchorage on these bodies,” he said.
