A food expert says it’s fine to reheat meals more than once depending on how it’s been handled.

Multiple reheats will also affect the quality of the meal according to food microbiologist Enzo Palombo.

“It depends on how it’s been handled, and how it’s been stored in-between those reheats,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.

“If you’ve heated it once – taken it out of the microwave, eaten some, and put the rest back in the fridge in a good period of time – that should be okay, because those temperatures won’t have allowed anything nasty to grow in the food.

“But if you’ve heated the food up, left it on the kitchen table for a few hours, then put it back in the fridge, that’s a risky thing.”
