A three million dollar grant for a Perth soccer club which the Federal Government promised four years ago, is now likely to be scrapped following an inquiry into the matter.

One Nation Senator Peter Georgiou announced the grant in 2018 for the Floreat Athena Soccer Club.

Con Poulios, President of the Floreat club, told Liam Bartlett that all the conditions for the grant had been met.

“We submitted back in March the final request for information,” he said.

“We believe from the admin in the Department of Infrastructure that they were satisfied with the information was provided,

“That was the last that we heard about it around when the election was on.”

Patrick Gorman, the local member and Assistant to the Prime Minister, says he doesn’t ‘want to politically intervene’.

“The reason that this does seem to have taken so long is because of its origins,” he said.

“The former government had four years, we’ve had four months,

“I do believe in proper process, and I don’t want to make this situation worse by trying to find a political fix.”
