Indigenous football great Eddie Betts has welcomed the AFL’s external investigation into serious allegations against Hawthorn and called on all clubs to review their treatment of First Nations people.

Betts detailed in heartbreaking fashion instances of racism he had experienced just recently in society, after copping years of abuse while a player.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s AFL360 program last night, the Carlton and Adelaide champion, now an assistant coach at Geelong, says Australians need to keep calling out racism, before relaying a shocking story that occurred at a public pool while he was with his kids.

“I was told to get out of the pool … because I was making their grandchild uncomfortable,” Betts said about the incident earlier this year.
