A new poll says limiting screen time, never shouting and not using a tablet as a babysitter are the top vows mums and dads break when becoming parents.

Parenting expert Dr Justin Coulson told Michael Genovese, in for Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast, that 85 per cent of mums and dads look back and laugh at promises they make before becoming parents.

“One thing research has shown is, the more pressure we feel about our childrens’ outcomes, the more controlling we are,” he said.
