The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman expects to launch further investigations into Optus and help customers exit contracts as it continues to field more calls by the day from disgruntled users.

Cynthia Gebert says her office is fielding twice the volume of calls since the Optus hacking scandal and expects even more once customers realise they have been caught up in the data breach.

“There are some really challenging scenarios for individual consumers to be working through, and I really encourage them to call us if they don’t get any joy dealing directly with Optus,” she told 6PR Morning host Liam Bartlett.

Gebert urged anyone wishing to make a complaint against Optus to call her office on 1800 062 058
