Report finds Australian aged care residents are significantly malnourished
The food aged care residents are given is under scrutiny as one in ten Australian residents continue to lose weight, when they shouldn’t.
Robert Hunt, Dietitian Australia chief executive told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that this crisis has been around for decades.
“We had a GP on talk back with me last week and said that he tested the entire resident numbers of the aged care facility he looked after, and only 2% of the residents had all the nutrient markers required to live a healthy life,” Mr Hunt told Oly.
“Oly what I feel and what our members feel is that we have our priorities wrong, we need to be spending our money on the individuals in our community that built the country. They’re a very vulnerable group.”
