Locals in the Kimberley region say a big saltwater crocodile has been launching itself at boats for months after a 6PR Breakfast listener told Gareth Parker on the Rumour File that a crocodile attacked his son’s best friend while crabbing near Horizontal Falls around 5pm on Monday.
Another Breakfast listener, Mark from Innaloo, told Parker on Wednesday he was on an APT cruise last year when a similar style attack occurred in the same area of Cyclone Creek with a 2.5m crocodile.
“It actually jumped out of the water and tried to come into the [boat], and nearly got a woman,” he told Parker on Wednesday.

“I bet my bottom dollar it is the same animal.”
Monday’s crocodile attack was confirmed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions on Tuesday as was an earlier attack.
“An interaction between a 2-3 metre estuarine crocodile and two members of the public at Cyclone Creek, Talbot Bay in Lalang-Gaddam Marine Park was reported to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions on Monday 17 October 2022,” DBCA said in a statement.
“Earlier this year, a similar sized crocodile was reported launching itself towards vessels at this location.”
