Basketball courts are being removed across Perth due to noise complaints. 

Community basketball courts will have to be built at least 100 meters from homes in an attempt to reduce noise disturbances.

Victoria Park Mayor Karen Vernon told 6PR Breakfast host Gareth Parker there was no other choice but to remove the courts.

“The recommendation was to remove the basketball infrastructure,” said Ms Vernon.

“Our experts advised we could not get compliance with the regulations even if we downgraded the surface.”
