Extreme weather events such as torrential downpours, searing heat and dangerous bushfire conditions are all getting worse across Australia.

CSIRO Climate Science Centre research director Jaci Brown says the latest snapshot of the nation’s climate shows even more challenging events will come, while referencing a 15 per cent decline in April to October rainfall in our South West.

“We’re getting that decrease in rainfall, due to climate change… a contraction of the rain system,” she told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings.

“The frontal systems that come and dump the rain in our South West have been pushed further south by climate change, so they’re just not coming up to bring the rainfall any more.”
