Actor Will Smith is on the promotional trail for his new film, which could spark another awkward moment at the next Academy Awards.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Millsy & Karl on 6PR Breakfast that Smith is in the running for a Best Actor gong for his new film Emancipation, but the statue will have to be couriered to him as he is not permitted to attend the Oscars or receive it via video link as part of his 10-year ban for hitting host Chris Rock at the last ceremony.

“There was always talk that this was the film that would get Will Smith an Oscar,” Ford says.
