A Kununurra man says he’s lucky to be alive today and will take the day off work after being attacked by a 1.5m saltwater crocodile while swimming at Buttons Crossing in the Kimberley on Saturday.

In his first interview since the ordeal, Kyle Hutchinson (above after the attack and at the pub) told Millsy & Karl on 6PR Breakfast he was bitten after stepping into a hole where the croc was hiding, but still made it to the pub a few hours later to celebrate surviving.

“Yeah sure did mate, it had to be done,” he said. “A few people came in and had a yarn.”
