Alarming study shows West Aussies are skipping meals to pay utility bills
Confronting research from WACOSS has revealed that struggling West Australians are skipping meals to pay for their utility bills.
Rachel Siewert, Deputy CEO at WACOSS told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that the impact on struggling families is very significant.
“Three quarters of those who are struggling, are cutting down on food to make ends meat,” she told Oly.
“We are deeply worried, if families are already struggling and we know the potential financial situation is going to get worse, it’s why we have made recommendations in the report to address utility debt.”
Ms Siewert highlighted that the McGowan Government can do a lot more to ease utility debt for families.
