An out of control bushfire has threatened the lives and homes of locals in Cervantes and Jurien Bay.

Firefighters have been fighting the blaze since Tuesday afternoon, where locals have been told to “act immediately to survive.”

Jason, an employee at the local favourite restaurant, The Lobster Shack told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl, that they have been feeding firefighters and volunteers throughout the night.

“The town has been without power and we have our own power supply here so we’ve been looking out for them all night and have cooked for the troops in the field,” Jason said.

Peter House, General Manager at Jurien Bay Beach Cafe told Millsy and Karl that although the fire is not under control, they’re putting containment lines in between Marine Fields and Jurien Bay.

“We are also feeding volunteers, ambulance volunteers, all the Cervantes people at the community centre at Jurien Bay – they’re all being fed this morning as well,” Mr House said.
