With a busy festive season around the corner, Michael Genovese and Mick Collis, filling in for Millsy and Karl, spoke to Evan Boyle, the Executive Director at the Australian Maritime Safety Authority about water safety over Christmas.

Mr Boyle gave a reminder to passengers of commercial vessels this festive season to not jump off the boat.

“Unfortunately particularly at this time of year we see a real increase of incidents of people acting recklessly on commercial vessels,” Mr Boyle said.

“While you can be seriously injured or killed, there’s also hefty fines – of up to $2000 – for jumping off commercial vessels.”

This safety warning conversation, promoted Michael Genovese and Mick Colliss to create their own “6PR Summer Breakfast list of things we really shouldn’t have to be warned about.”

Including:

  • ‘Don’t jump off boats’: “Is this not obvious?”
  • Plastic bags that say ‘this is not a toy’: “Like obviously it’s not a toy, it’s a plastic bag.”
  • Silica gel beads that say ‘do not eat’: “Well why would I eat that?”
  • Michael bought a pram that said ‘remove baby before folding’: “Do you need to be told that?”
