Jim Group founder calling on PM to protect Australian franchisees
Jim Penman, Founder of the Jim’s Group is calling on the Albanese Government to set up a public website that scores franchises based on feedback from franchisees.
In Jim’s open letter to the Prime Minister, he requests urgent action to name and shame unscrupulous franchisers to warn Australian families who may be lured into buying franchises with businesses who won’t look after them.
“There is absolutely horrifying stories going on about people who have got franchises who have been grossly ripped off by the franchiser,” Mr Penman told Jamie Burnett, filling in for Oliver Peterson on Perth Live.

“The code of conduct is an absolute joke, it is absurd and ridiculous – any sensible person buying a franchise should sit down, get a list of the current franchisees and ring as many as possible but the unfortunate thing is most don’t do the research so the government should step in and do it.”
The Jim’s Group have said they are happy to contribute to the cost of the new system and believes all franchise groups should.
