Government cuts millions in mental health funding
On January first, the number of Medicare-funded sessions halved from 20 to 10 sessions a year.
This has left many Australians unable to afford much-needed psychology sessions.
President of the Institute of Clinical Psychologists Dr Marjorie Collins told 6PR Perth Live the reduction will leave many suffering with their mental health.
“We’re surprised the government isn’t listening to the experts,” said D Collins.
“It’s a small amount of money for the government to pay… to help those who need it.”
