Perth grandmother granted visa

Harvey Deegan

A 58 year old grandmother has been granted a reprieve by the Immigration Department, which had threatened to deport her back to South Africa because the Federal Government didn’t recognise her biological sister as a relative.

Mornings with Gareth Parker brought listeners Linda Oppel’s story back on June 12, after she was denied a Remaining Relative Visa to stay in Perth, because she had been adopted as a child.

Harvey Deegan was able to provide an update on the case, while filling in for Gareth this week.
