There is concern Western Australian police have been given too much power by the State Government.

During the pandemic, police officers were given extended powers to help enforce COVID-19 restrictions, but some believe these powers need to be removed.

WA Justice Association co-founder Tom Penglis told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live WA police have too much power.

“The concern is the lack of independent oversight,” said Mr Penglis.

“We need to be careful of the nature of the power we are giving to police.”
