A radioactive capsule has gone missing somewhere in Perth.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services and WA Health say the hazardous material went missing somewhere between Newman and Malaga.

The capsule poses a major risk to public health.

Chief Health Officer Dr Andrew Robertson told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live the material is very dangerous.
