‘It’s disappointing’: WA gun owners shocked at new gun laws
In an Australian-first, the McGowan Government has announced WA gun owners will have to undergo mandatory and ongoing mental health checks as part of a complete overhaul of the state’s 50-year-old firearms legislation.
President of WA Sporting Shooters Association Paul Fitzgerald told Gary Adshead the announcement was a shock and is disappointing.
“It’s disappointing that this latest attack on firearm owners is premature with the minister announcing this proposal without any consultations with the industry,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
