Close to a thousand of WA’s rarest orchids have been stolen from Kings Park.

The thieves stole 400 Carbunup King Spider Orchids and 500 Collie Spider Orchids that were on display in the Conservation Garden.

Director of Kings Park Botanic Gardens, Sue McDougall, told 6PR Breakfast this is not an uncommon issue for Kings Park.

The poachers could face fines of up to $250,000.
