A controversial women’s drug rehabilitation centre to be opened in Craigie in Perth’s north is reportedly being targeted.

The WA planning commission has told the Joondalup council that approval isn’t needed for the facility to operate, so there’ll be no community consultation.

Founder of Shalom House Peter Lyndon-James says they found nails under the wheels of cars in the facilities car park.

Mr Lyndon-James told Gary Adshead he doesn’t understand the negativity towards what he’s trying to do.

Mayor of the City of Joondalup Albert Jacob says the council is seeking further clarification about the planning commission’s decision.

“We’ve been told by Shalom for two months that we’d be engaged and now earlier this week they start moving in and say we’re not going to do that now,” Mr Jacob told 6PR Mornings.

“I object to the inference that the local community put those nails there.”
