Fremantle has suffered a 52-point loss and Michael Walters suffered a knee injury against Hawthorn at Domain Stadium on Saturday evening

Fremantle couldn’t rise above a lackluster performance against the Hawks trailing for the entire game, although they had spurts of domination, it was never enough to get in touch.

The game got worse for the Dockers when Michael Walters suffered a serious knee injury early in the fourth quarter and didn’t return to the game.

Tom Mitchell was dominant for the Hawks with 37 disposals, and Jack Gunstan was just as handy with 35 disposals.

Connor Blakely clocked up 29 disposals for Fremantle and after just signing a new six-year contract Nat Fyfe kicked a goal and 23 disposals.

Cam McCarthy and James Deluca came back into Fremantle’s side with Luke Ryan and Brennan Cox omitted for breaching club rules.

“It’s been a positive that we’ve been able to be a bit more competitive [the last few weeks]” Tom Mitchell spoke with 6PR after the game.

“It’s probably just the start of the game, we’re putting ourselves under a lot of pressure, conceding early scores and then working really hard to get back into it. To Hawthorn’s credit, they’re playing some fantastic football at the moment,” David Mundy told the 6PR commentary team after the game.

“Both sides were going pretty frantic and fast and there was a lot of turnovers and not a lot of inside 50s.” Listen to Alastair Clarkson’s press conference.

Ross Lyon confirmed Michael Walters had injured his PCL but is not yet sure of the severity of the injury.
