Australian farmer aims to raise $100m to support live sheep exports
A Pilbara pastoralist is planning to raise $100 million and form a grassroots organisation to fight the government’s plan to end live sheep exports.
Mundabullangana Station owner Michael Thompson told Ian Blackley on 6PR Afternoons he believes the majority of Australian farmers support live sheep exports and are proud of current export processes, despite the documented incidents of animal cruelty overseas.
“Let’s face it: we don’t want to see things done badly like they have been done in the past, but we’re trying our best to lead by example and get everyone to lift their standards as well,” he said.
