A Western Bulldogs great has escaped with his life after the shed he was in was struck by lightning.

Doug Hawkins called in to 6PR Breakfast to tell Millsy and Karl it was one of the most frightening experiences of his life.

“I came out and the young peggy on the job here said to me, ‘You’re white and your eyes are crossed!’ I have to admit, it was pretty scary,” he said.
