Despite being reduced to a one-man interchange, the Eagles got within two points early in the final term, before the Dockers put the foot down, booting the last six goals of the game to run out 41-point winners 16.12 (108) to 9.13 (67).

Caleb Serong dominated in the middle collecting 35 disposals to win the Glendenning-Allan Medal for the second time in his career, while Michael Walters booted four goals up forward.

Tim Kelly was the Eagles’ best tallying 33 disposals for the contest.
