A micro-chip in the Sherrin; the revolution to the score-review system has arrived
Eddie McGuire has spoken of the “revolution to the game” with news that micro-chips embedded in the balls will solve the AFL’s woes when it comes to score reviews.
McGuire joined Wide World of Sports on Wednesday night and was excited to announce the breakthrough in technology which will change the game.

“There’s a chip inside the Sherrin, and it can tell you, instantaneously, whether it’s a goal, a point, out of bounds, did it go 15 metres through the air, just a feather touch on it.”
“For all the issues we’ve had, if this works, as we’re getting towards the pointy end of testing, and it looks like it will, it will be fantastic.”
Based out of London, Sportable is the company at the heart of the technology developments which are in their final stages of testing before their implementation into official AFL games.
