Now that we’re past the obviously sad news that the sperm whale recently beached in Rockingham has passed, thoughts now turn to the dirty work.

While dragging the carcass back out to the ocean may be the most obvious solution, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions has decided against it.

Nine News reporter Sarah Smith told Millsy and Lachy onĀ 6PR Breakfast it is believed authorities are trying to avoid creating a dangerous area by attracting sharks.

“But we know what happened with the whales at Cheynes Beach, and likely the same thing will happen here,” Ms Smith said.
