‘Above politics’: Peak motoring body demands better road funding decisions
Death, trauma and traffic congestion could all be reduced if State and Federal governments chose to make data-driven road funding decisions, instead of politically motivated ones, says the nation’s peak motoring body.
Michael Bradley, Managing Director of the Australian Automobile Association, expressed concerns to Oly Peterson on 6PR’s Perth Live about governments withholding crucial road network statistics, as the Australian road toll continues to rise at an alarming rate.
“Road funding is something politicians like to be able to spend at election time in seats that are important to them,” he said.

“Voters should be able to see where their taxpayer’s dollars are going and they should be able to see the roads that are getting funded are the ones that need it.”
